Sorry if this seems to be a silly question, but I’ll ask it anyway.

I’m playing the 2019-01-09 timetable and just after 06:10 train 3P00 is approaching Thorne South where there is a Track Circuit failure on the opposite line. (see screenshot)
I would like some advice as to the correct procedure in this instance, regarding a train on an adjacent line reporting it.
I can ask 3P00 to pass signal D628 at danger and examine the line but he will obviously only examine it as far as signal D626 (which is showing a proceed aspect) just before that station platform, even though the failure on the other line goes beyond that point. Is that sufficient and acceptable?

I can provide a saved game if necessary, but I don't think that it is?

I don't know what the procedure would be, but if it is to examine the line, here is how you would do that:
Since the failure is on the other line, you should not tell the driver to pass D628 at danger. Instead, use the regular "examine the line" option, and then clear the signal as normal.
D626 being at proceed does not matter, because the driver will always call at the next signal after examining. At that point, you can tell the driver to continue examining to the next signal again. Basically, you need to start an examination at the last signal you can keep at danger before the affected piece of track, and then subsequently tell the driver to continue examining at every signal up until the failure.

You asked the same question in regard to a TCF on the Doncaster South sim here.

20.6.2 First train to pass on an adjacent line
If the first train to pass on a line immediately next to the affected line
before the affected line is examined, the driver of this train must be
told:
• what is happening
• the locations between which the adjacent line is affected by the
track circuit
• to pass the affected portion of line at caution
• to report as soon as possible if anything is wrong

So I did. However my memory being what it is, I'm not surprised that I had forgotten.

Your memory must be Ultra-fantastic

Actually, that's what I did so I got it right. Just wanted confirmation.

Not memory, just luck. I was actually searching for any information about a request to examine the feasibility of altering the options available when instructing a driver so that (s)he could be asked to proceed to signal AA123 then examine the line. It must have been made as a feature request on Mantis rather than through the Forum but that long thread about the Doncaster incident showed in the search results!
