So, with Postal's Christmas quiz answered in what feels to me to be close to record time, I guess now is the opportunity to see if the combined brainpower of the forum can get through my totally unaffilliated second round just as quick. Inspired by the mock sim thread I thought I'd have a go putting together one myself, but made the mistake of trying somewhere a little more international to avoid duplicating an area someone else had done, which resulted in realising that spotting signals on cab ride videos may be the only source data I could find for some of it meaning it's been a little over a year since I started. But, as I've edited this with layers I've realised that by turning the layers off I can present to you all a single question. 1. Where is this? (And hopefully the gif version with flashing aspects below also works eveen if it does get distracting to look at after a few seconds) I'm happy to take questions on what I've drawn to aid guesses, but any "Is it in name of geographic area of any size?" questions will be ignored so as not to make this too easy. Best of luck to you all. Adam. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Last edited: 26/12/2022 at 11:30 by Tempest Malice Reason: Mo ing attachments inline. Got me beat. Definitely not Australia or NZ. Don't recognise it as being from any other country I follow (CH, DE, FR or NL...)

I think I've found it.. is it the network of the Japanese Keikyu Corporation? Took me a while to find it, mostly by identifying the signal aspects. Couldn't find any case of flashing yellow over flashing green anywhere. Then by chance, I saw a picture of a steady yellow over green with a yellow over yellow pictured in the background. Following that picture led me to identifying it was Japanese signalling. The flashing yellow over green was then a giveaway because according to wikipedia it is only used on two lines, and the layout of branch lines seems to match up.

And thanks for the reasoning, I'd say that'd teach me to leave too much information in there, but that was sort of the point. Anyway for anyone interested below are the versions with names on. Yes, it is the Connel Viaduct GF's and gates No need for a road light north end, as that was staffed to collect the tolls Explanation of working: http://oban-line.info/notices/sn193x/sn14051930.html The up (south) end road signal was changed from the mechanical one described to a *railway* colour light ! https://www.railscot.co.uk/img/22/743/ Last edited: 26/12/2022 at 20:12 by bill_gensheet Reason: None given Log in to reply |
