Hi,

Something up with the Decisions and rules for 4L81?

At Seeding Decision 4L81 Seed chooses 4L81/H00325S not 4L81/H38937S
Rule 4L81/H00325 must appear 48 Mins after 4L81/H00325S Leaves
Rule 4L81/H38937 must appear 39 Mins after 4L81/H38937S Leaves
Decision Coatbridge FLT 4L81 chooses 4L81/H38937 not 4L81/HH00325

4L81/H00325 can't enter because 4L81/H38937 is chosen
4L81/H38937 can't enter because 4L81/H38937S has not left the area

Is the second decision redundant because of the rules?

Tim.

Signal GL41 not clearing from red for train 1w78 from Shrewsbury. Route is set across the junction to grey triangle for crewe station. Train sits at signal and phones in. Stalk is lit but nothing happens. Save attached showing 1w78 at previous signal GL57 and route set. Great sim by the way.

Opening youre save game, you have set GL41 to the exit arrow on Gresty Lane correctly, however on Crewe South you need to set the other half of the route from the red arrow (CE111) to CE115. The half route is explained in the manual here

Mantis 38488 Applies. The second decision is for the trains entering at 2344. The departures from Basford Hall should not have the decision applied to them as they are goverened by which version seeds and the re entry rules

4S88 at SSN/SSMproblem as loco 0K88 detaches to go neck then arrival at basford hall no problem. 0S88 supposed to join from signal NH9/NH8 but as you can see in 2nd save a few seconds before it arrives to join 4S88 it says in F2 waiting for 4S88 then both move then wait moves and will never join. First save shows a few minutes beofre that with an awful lot of freight trying to stop and crewe change more or less at the same time at Basford Hall SSN/SSM. Is that normal? I have the default timetable 2007-215 supplied with sim and TORR, Extra ARS, Level Crossings on. AB internal and external are disabled. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Thanks
John Rowley

Let it run a few more minutes and now the train is deciding to join. Weird

Diesel, I've run your 005511 SSG multiple times and the AC Loco eventually couples up after about a minute of doing the shuffle. Each time I restarted the save, the loco started to join to the wagons by 0057.
Mantis 31244 has a report of the issue where when you have a powered train and a non powered train they end up doing a big shuffle to join to each other but I've never had them not eventually join

I see on Gresty Lane Panel Dn Salop Goods Loop has Crewe TMd, but on Crewe PSB panel the same area shows Crewe TMD as D.E.D.with Crewe TMD above Platform 12. Is that correct and are they the same? Just wondering as cannot find D.E.D on south end towards heritage siding as you can phone either end. I assume it may be Crewe TMD which is blocked and collared.

Thanks

4S88 and 4V89 so far ( only up to 0230 ) drop a loco and a new one couples on at SSN/SSM . The new loco will not couple on (in both trains) unless the train 4xxx timetable is abandoned and then run to another timetable and pick it up again . Then it goes to "joining loco" and all is well.

( it's not a shunt forward thing, the F2 says of the LE that "train 4xxx in front" so its in the right place )

( I see others have the same issue )

Are you seeing the light loco and the train doing a shuffle in F2 of "Waiting for joining train 4S88 / Train 4S88 in front / Moving at 0mph (Or 3mph sometimes) " and repeat? If you just leave them be they will join after a couple of minutes.

There's a sharp curve there and there's a known issue joining trains on sharp bends...

(Ok, I tried. It's true in real life, not so much in SimSig. Will investigate)

Ran it last night. 4S88 and 4M89 both changed without any issues (I wasn't hawking F2 so can't say how much shuttling occurred)

Good spot on this one. This is part of the display which is seen by both Gresty Lane and Crewe SCC signallers.

Can confirm that's what happens

Yes, that is the scenario. Because there is another train right behind it ( and I am used to this issue on New Street sim ) I just do what comes naturally - abandon tt and get it to pick up the tt again at the same time, then all well

Because they eventually join, it isn't immediately obvious what's happening unless you are looking at the train list. I've experienced it myself on New Street sim, especially with all the joins on the 1990 timetable.

I only noticed it because the New Street timetable can be so tight, I'm waiting for the 'joined' message and TRTS. A few of them took seemingly forever to join, and I started watching them in the train list.

As mentioned earlier, Mantis 31244 covers it.

Does not add much time....

00:51:08 4S88 has finished dividing
(run off 0K88, bring in 0S88)
00:57:32 4S88 has finished joining

Also tried setting 0S88 to far end stop but still about 50 steps of waiting - in front - moving - waiting. (15 cycles or so)

Re 4s88 when joined and you send it to salp goods at the junction it says unidentified thing in berth and 4 stars so you just have to interpose 4s88 and it will go as normal.

Please can you attach a save game just prior to the issue occurring if you have one?

Appeared to me to be normal(ish) behaviour:
The 4S88 TD goes with the 0K88 light engine into the neck.
That leaves the train without a TD, and 0S88 does not step in either as it is a shunt.
So if then sent forward it will be a train without TD and report at the next TD step

Agreed. As soon as the TC in advance of a clear signal occupies, the TD in the berth will step forward whatever the actual movement is. In real life the describer system is not linked directly to the trains, only to the signalling system, so it can't distinguish between an engine being released and the train going forward.

Pity the poor bobby in the days before these new-fangled 4-digit describers, when all the information consisted of a bell signal from the box in rear (repeated 3-2-5s if it was all freightliners), a timetable and (depending on local instructions) calls on the phone circuit to say what order everything was running in.

4m89 as it his signal SG13 non described train in berth. Also 6m02 if you request slot for signal NH17 SSN as coming from harlescott crossing it flashes to accept but never goes solid white. Works perfrectly the other direction.
