Pretty sure this has been suggested before. Issue with HS1 is that it's all ETCS and not sure how that would be replicated.

High speed lines tend to be quite boring actually. Trains are often the same, predictive traffic patterns, well separated intervals. Flying junctions. Even where you have the equivalent of fast, semi-fast, and stoppers on the Shinkansen lines, the stopping trains often stop for several minutes before the following train passes them.

It’s not moving block, you still set a route from A to B, and it does interlocking things. No idea if you could or would apply it to SimSig, but it doesn’t appear to be that “out there”. For the driver, yes, it’s pretty radical. Log in to reply |

HS1 has no ETCS. It is a TVM430 line with KVB in the St Pancras station area.

I once had the pleasure a few years ago of visiting the CTRL Ashford Signalling Centre and spending a couple of hours with the signaller. If I remember correctly as this was a quite a few years ago, before the line to St Pancras opened, the only real area of interest was around Ashford, but even then I don't think he had much control over anything except routing trains to/from the station or over the bypass. Trains at the Tunnel end drop off into Eurotunnel control somwehere near Dollands Moor and dropped off the other end onto Network Rail on the chord before Ebbsfleet tunnel. Between these points, the trains just ran. There's no stations, no LCs... it's pretty boring as Geoff says. I would argue that the desk looking after the electrical systems was slightly more interesting! Today might be more interesting as you'd have St Pancras, Stratford and the depot, Ebbsfleet and its interface with Network Rail there, following on to Ashford. As for signalling, as @madabouttrains has posted, it's very much IECC style and would fit SimSig nicely. (Formerly known as manadude2) Log in to reply |

If this sim was ever produced, for me to consider purchasing it, it would have to be 'the route, the whole route and nothing but the route' Sorry about my weird sense of humour Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

What have Bourg-Saint-Maurice & Avignon done wrong to be missed off ? As an aside, I had a work trip to south-east Paris and decided to go by train. Getting an approved booking for London - Eurodisney was amusing at the corporate agency. Bill :-) Log in to reply |
