I have been trying to do the information gateway thing so that I can use the Live Departure Boards (https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/53684). I go through the start menu bit, I click open interface gateway, I click start (not clicking any of the ports or amending anything, just taking the primary one) and the error comes up. I have tried the secondary port and even changing the number of the custom port, always errors. Does anyone know what the issue is?

Many thanks

Not 100% sure but have you opened the port on your router interface/port forwarded?

You don't need to open any ports as its running on the same machine. If you open the sim you wish to play with the default gateway port ticked. You then start the departure board exe and you then need to enter your SimSig username & password. everything should then connect

The error message that's coming up is caused by the operating system being unable to bind the service to that TCP port, it could be because the port isn't open in the local firewall or AV, or it could be that something else is already running on that port.

The departure board won't connect if the service can't be bound to the port.

Is there a way for me to fix it? How do I open the port in Windows Defender. AV? If something else is running on the port, moving to the secondary or custom should help right? but that didn't work either, same error

There's information here on how to see if a service is already using a port (I would say this is the more likely issue) https://serverfault.com/questions/2699/how-do-i-see-if-a-port-is-in-use-on-a-windows-machine

There's some information here about allowing apps through Windows firewall https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/risks-of-allowing-apps-through-windows-defender-firewall-654559af-3f54-3dcf-349f-71ccd90bcc5c

I couldn't find anything on that port so I don't know. I checked though and Multiplayer works so I just used that port instead in the custom and it works now

This old discussion has more more details on that subject. It seems that in addition to ports actively in use by whatever other software might be running (which is what TCPView or netstat will be showing), Windows can also reserve ports to block other programs from using them. Such reservations will only show up when running "netsh interface ipv4 show excludedportrange protocol=tcp" on a command line.

I've installed the departure board program and the .exe file has appeared, but when I click on it nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

Is your AV blocking the application from running? I know mine did so I had to add an exception.

Tried that and it still won't open.
