Doncaster Station

Completing the trio of Doncaster simulations, Doncaster Station marks another major milestone in SimSig history. The simulation covers panels two and three of Doncaster PSB - the Decoy yards, and the Doncaster station area, Both of these are probably some of the biggest individual panels we’ve ever simulated. It is now possible to chain simulations all the way from King’s Cross in London to just north of Plessey Crossovers, some 281½ miles away!

Doncaster is an important crossroads, both for passenger trains and for freight trains. The high speed East Coast Main Line passes through northwards and southwards, while branches towards Hull, Sheffield, Lincoln, and Leeds all have plenty of both passenger and freight trains.

Official 2009 and 2019 timetables are included to make use of two of the eras, and users are encouraged to write timetables for other eras. Both official timetables are manageable by a single player, with enough to keep you on your toes!

Chaining

When chaining the Doncaster simulations together, some areas are duplicated between the two simulations. For example Rossington - Botany Bay is duplicated on the Station simulation and on the South simulation.

Full aspect information, track indications, and point indications are shown in both simulations, but control is only available to the simulation which owns that panel.

Doncaster South is Panel 1
Doncaster Station is Panels 2 & 3
Doncaster North is Panels 4 & 5

Thanks and Dedication

My thanks to the large number of people, both on SimSig and not, who have contributed enormously to the Doncaster simulation. This simulation is dedicated to Chris Law (@Chrisrail) who many of you know and who sadly passed away a couple of months ago.

Hi Geoff, should that be 2009 and 2015 default timetables included?

Great nod to Chris, a true legend.

Not at the moment the 2015 is still in development and Will follow after testing.

Doncaster is a lot more complicated than most sims when it comes to freight and matching Up the workings is a nightmare

Passed the age to be doing 'Spoon Feeding' !!!

I'm celebrating with a glass of red wine; only a small glass mind.

Unfortunately I'm currently at 06:00 in a Doncaster North sim and as I don't really like to run more than one sim at a time, I'll be finishing this one before I start a Doncaster Station one.
However, with a bit of luck, I'll finish it in the next couple of days as I'll be on my own until Friday because my lovely wife will be visiting a friend who lives in Northumberland, 300 odd miles away.
Very good timing that :)

Edit: Oh, and I've got to read the Manual first. I always do, although I often forget most of what's in most of them 🤪

Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved. Been looking forward to this. I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. I can't imagine how much work went into it, but along with the recent Loader update, I'm more than impressed, and it was well worth the wait.

I'm only a few hours into the 2009 timetable so far, and it's been all smiles from me. I had to drag myself away from it to get some sleep, but wanted to give my thoughts first.

Well done, and thank you again!

I know what I said about running two sims at the same time, but it's no use.

I've got as far as 10:30 in the Doncaster North sim but can't hold off any longer. Got to start a sim Station VERY SOON!!
