Any L.M.R. signaller jobs going? 22/04/2024 at 18:32 #156114

Seeing as I've probably just lost my job in retail now's the perfect opportunity for a career change. I'm looking for signaller roles, L.M.R. in either Manchester, Chester, Liverpool or Crewe (Crewe is preferred but seeing as all the boxes are closing in December I'm not expecting much luck)
This is a dream job, and I've not had much luck with 'dreams' in the years leading up to this

Currently only advertisement on N.R. is for a crossing keeper at Red Cow (Exeter) which is a little far for a commute! (Living in Crewe) Anyone know of anything "on the inside" as it were?

They do advertise externally now and then, they put Manchester posts out a year or so ago initially for low grade boxes (Eccles, Dinting, Denton Jn) but I know a couple from the course who have already moved elsewhere on higher grades. One has got a position in the ROC covering the Crewe Independents area once resignalled.

Best advice is to keep checking - being popular the vacancies can disappear quite quickly. Perhaps consider anything else within the area with NR (even office jobs) if it appears as you then get access to internal vacancies as well.

There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

I would say don't just check the NR website, they sometimes advertise jobs on LinkedIn/Indeed as well and recently I have seen some jobs appear on those that did not appear on the NR website. Sadly, the majority of signalling jobs (especially grade 5+) are offered internally only, so it is a game of patience I'm afraid...
