We are pleased to announce the release of the Walsall simulation, which is located north of Birmingham and chains to Wolverhampton, Birmingham New Street, Staffordshire, and Saltley. All of those sims, except for Wolverhampton, have also been updated for chaining purposes - see the simulation version histories for details. Finally, timetables for the above have also been updated where appropriate. Walsall has two eras, 2006 and 2019 with timetables for both, and includes a nice variety of freight and passenger workings. Click Check for Updates in the Loader for the latest files. Enjoy! Does that finish the WCML? Simsig's mission to rule the world (well, the British railway system) continues! Thanks Geoff. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: GeoffM |

Given we only now need Newcastle - Berwick to complete the ECML, you could argue Simsig has its own race to the north! Many thanks for releasing Walsall and the updates for the sims to enable chaining. Another area that I have visited many times mostly Bescot Stadium. For those making an timetable upon recently/or future. Bescot Down Sidings, Bescot Middle and Bescot TMD are now fully closed and OOU. It is expected the land will be bought for a new depot with WMT/LNWR. Aaron (AJRO) | Timetable Writer Log in to reply |

Bescot Down Side has been a sad sight to pass on the train for a few years now, another massive yard completely disused.

I worked at Bescot for 4 years & thoroughly enjoyed my time there & the yard was all open to traffic with the Down Tower in operation too & it was still quite a busy place then unlike today. The fastest time to Aberdeen in the 1895 "race" was achieved by the LNWR/CR combination. In both cases the fastest times were set on the shortest routes. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply The following user said thank you: bugsy |

If it was a race to build (akin to the SimSig network) then..... WCML (Caledonian Railway) opened February and April 1848 to Glasgow (Townhead) and Edinburgh (Lothian Road) respectively, so was the first complete London - Edinburgh / Glasgow line Although the Berwick - Edinburgh line opened in June 1846, there was not yet a line from Gateshead to Berwick to meet it ! In July 1847 the Newcastle - Berwick line opened, but still isolated as it took until 1850 to finish both the Tyne and Tweed bridges to complete a through rail route - until then you had to walk from Gateshead to Newcastle and also from Tweedbank to Berwick town station.
