Hello all

You may have seen it in the Upcoming Games list already as 'Sydney to Newcastle Super Chain'. The crew down under would like to offer a large chain game for anyone and everyone on Saturday 10th August.

We'll be lashing together four New South Wales sims and loading up our 2011-10-23 timetable to cover the ~170km between Sydney and the old now-decommissioned Newcastle station. Sydney Box, Strathfield, Sydney North and Central Coast NSW will be available.

We intend to begin at 0900 Australian Eastern time, which will be midnight London time, but will play from 0400-2200 game time so we'll be going all throughout the day UK time. Perfect for our northern hemisphere friends to join for the afternoon shift or evening peak rushes.

A panel allocation roster will be drawn up and published closer to the day, and we'll be using Teamspeak to communicate.

Happy to field any questions or comments in this thread, or via PM.

Hoping to see you all there!

Nice idea. I will certainly join some of the chain depending on work schedule etc. UK time.

I'm very interested actually but won't be available until 3-4pm AEST. I've also never done a online game before, and although I'm not computer illiterate, I might need a bit of help getting started. Are you guys open to a total newbie joining?

I'm actually a driver in Sydney (based at Mortdale, but previously Eveleigh and Cronulla), so I'm well versed in SimSig and the general movements up to Newcastle.

The only way I got used to playing SimSig when I first started was by joining network games so I would imagine all are welcome. Given the number of panels I would think the more the merrier. See you there.

Definitely - all are welcome.

Hoping to get a few more people from the UK to join up. It's a really interesting corridor with a solid mix of intercity, express, stopping and freight traffic to regulate. You don't even need to understand the geography or the normal working - just follow the timetable for each train until it all starts to come together.

If you're on the fence about joining, please throw your hat into the ring - there are plenty of workstations, even some dead simple ones.

One more plug for this weekend's NSW Mega Chain.
No need to be shy, if this retired non-railway guy can manage anyone can, simply by doing. There's plenty of places in the UK unfamiliar to me, but I just use the Train List and Timetables and 'got tracks got trains'.
We run the sim clock slightly fast, which provides a comfort break every three real hours then continue the sim clock in three hour blocks.
It's SimSig at it's Aussie best - 'peak' SimSig, what the software's designed to do.
If you can't make a full three hour block, register anyway and we can cover if you're not on time.
Please make sure you have licences for any/all of the four sims you wish to play, then register ASAP at https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Game.
Shifts will then be worked out and advised.
