I am having an issue with the far end stopping position at Liskeard Platform 1. It is linked to the fact that Liskeard signal LD33 is not at the end of platform 1 (LINK to Google Maps image showing LD33 is not at end of platform 1), the track section in advance of signal LD33 (TLDBD2) & the track section in the rear of signal LD33 (TLDBE). Google Earth historical imagery from 2001 (July 2021 imagery attached due to better lighting) shows that the whole of PLD10A/B crossover is located beyond the country end of Platform 1, supported by THIS image of the box diagram, dated 1981, photographed in 2011 and uploaded in 2015. Rough measurements on the Google Earth imagery (using the ruler tool and verified by using the 20' shipping containers in the nearby yard and digitally 'stacking' them end-to-end over the platform), shows that the position of signal LD33 is about 50m short of the country end of platform 1. Train 6V20 in the attached image is 80m long and has a stopping position of far the end of platform 1. But when stopped, is entirely in track section TLDBE, which is the section in the rear protected by signal LD33. This can also be seen in the timetable attached, that train TEST, that is 80m long and has a FX stopping position stops completely within track section TLDBE (in all eras), and when a shunt forward command is given after train TEST stops, the track section TLDBF is immediately occupied, thus I conclude that the far end stopping position for platform 1 is the country end of track section TLDBE. 1) Please the graphics be updated to show that signal LD33 is located part way along platform 1 and not at the end (like seen in the box diagram linked above). 2) Please could the Wiki be updated to include the platform length of platform 1 to include length up to LD33 and the full length of the platform 3) Please could a note about LD33 not being at the country end of platform 1, but part way along be added to the Liskeard panel notes section of the wiki 4) Please could the far end stopping position in (at least) the 2000 & 2009 eras be reviewed to around the country end of TLDBD2 Post has attachments. Out of interest, just so you know, the only passenger trains that currently stop beyond the starting signal on the Down Main at Liskeard are the down sleeper and 9/10 car IETs. Everything else (including 5-car IETs) have their stop boards before the signal. Also, in 12 years of driving through Liskeard, I don't ever recall seeing LD33 at Danger, although it may have happened once. This photo shows the position of the signal, for those who aren't au fait with the station. It's not great, as most photos of Liskeard don't show the down end of the platforms. Edit: Here's a better photo showing the distances involved. Note the old full-length HST stop boards, which are still in position today. If the IET 9/10 stop board was there at the time this photo was taken, it would be directly being the man walking towards us. Good to know about the stopping marks for passenger trains, 6V20 is the inbound freighter for Moorswater. I'm having the Loco run around in Liskeard because of the simplified layout of the yard, there is time to do so at this time of day and THIS bug with the Liskeard - Coombe token being lost. Yes I could get away with not using the Far stopping position for such a short train, but we still have the issue that the location of the far end of the platform is wrong, I estimate by around 50-60m. Whether or not the TLDBE/TLDBD2 boundary is before the end of the platform, the platform definitely does not go as far up as the TLDB/TLDBE boundary.

It is possible to set default stopping positions for length of train which is what the ticket is logged for. Note I believe the default stopping position in the sim is near end so unless the train is longer than the distance between the two signals it won’t foul 10 points. If you are doing a run round move you are better to set a specific stopping position for the train at the near end with an adjustment for the length of the loco to fit on the end after it has run round. It would not be a good idea to redraw the station to draw the signal on the platform. The Cornwall sim is consistent in how this is applied throughout as there are also signals at several other places on platforms and to draw a platform around them takes up a lot of space and looks messy. The far end is in the correct place as it allows for the full usable length of the platform. Wiki has been updated, note it was wrong before. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: rfw |

Regarding the linked post about the train not returning the token, this appears to be a core code issue which has been logged as Mantis 41342. If you run the timetable analysis on liskeart slt timetable you will see why it does not work correctly at Liskeard Station, correct that error and it will.
