This instruction in Oxford 1979 Timetable concerning light engine movements: 3) "Light engines for Oxford loco fuelling point can not use the correct route via the DCS fan. Instead, they must route to platform 2, thence toward the headshunt using Loco Sdgs GF.". While there is no problem with this instruction, it is possible to use another method, albeit not strictly correct, by reversing Down CS point lever for headshunt and when driver queries route at, say, Signal 22, abandon timetable and the loco will move towards headshunt. Once the loco is on move, run to another timetable showing timing at headshunt, normalise DCS point lever and wait for driver to call up to pass stop board or ask driver to pass signal at danger. I only mention this because No. 2 Platform is not always available because of occupation. I'm sure others have worked this out and this may be nothing new. Although this move might be regarded as illegal, it is working within station limits!
