Still, an admin or moderator should be able to move this thread for you soon. Simsig is only available for x86 processors and not for ARM - so at least it has to be recompiled. But maybe someone ever gets Linux running on an iPad and when Windows 8 releases an ARM variant, perhaps Wine will start to support ARM. By the way, it seems that an iPad can be hacked to run Android, a Linux-based system.

To summarize: 1) The iphone and iTouch are too small to create an effective sim. 2) SimSig uses Delphi. Delphi is essentially Object Pascal. In order to move easily to iOS, you'd need a Delphi compiler for iOS. Sadly, there is, not to my knowledge, no Delphi compiler for the IOS so either (a) you have to run the sim using something that supports a Windows-based executable such as Wine under Linux which unless you remove iOS and replace it, isn't possible or (b) Rewrite the whole thing using a suitable language to support iOS. A re-write would need an awful lot of work and there is enough to do with all the sims we have in development as well as additional features being added to the core code. It's not impossible....But don;t hold your breath! Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Emily |

Hi all, There is away to run SimSig on an iPad (sort of), but with a certain amount of restriction. First off, the sim isn't technically on the iPad but with a desktop remote access app from the iTunes store you can run the program direct of your running PC straight to the iPad via either wifi or 3G. The restrictions are that your pc must be running and for it to work over 3G you have to have a decent connection and data allowance. Wifi works fine though providing its a half decent speed (I'm on 3mb). I had ago this evening and it worked pretty well, controls would take abit of getting used to though. Log in to reply |
