I am playing the Worksop Simulation. Forgive me, but I don't know signalling terms, but I have hit up on a problem. I had a train going from the Creswell section into Shirebrook, and though the signal had turned red, I was trying to cancel the route, so that I could clear the line at Worksop. The track still shows white, therefore I cannot clear. Wish I could be more specific.

David.

Not a problem, you'll pick terms up as you go along. What I assume you mean is that you have set a route at Worksop, the train has gone past, the signals have gone to red but there is still a white line between the signals, indicating a route has been set. If you're new to SimSig, I'd suggest you start the game again, but in the 'simuation options' tab click 'TORR'. This stands for Train Operated Route Release', and means that the trains will clear routes themselves as they go past. However, if you wish to leave TORR off, you need to cancel the route yourself, by right clicking the relevent signals. If you have 'right click cancels route' ticked in the F3 'Control' tab, the route will cancel immediately, or you will have to click 'cancel route' in a drop-down menu.

Hope this helps!

That is most very helpful. I am getting the hang of it, as I feel Worksop is a good one for beginners.
However, I have come across a timetable, where I am playing the midnight one.
Train 0F23 is suppose to meet 6F23. this is where I get stuck, as there is nothing showing on the panel regarding these 2 trains, and I am unsure as to what to do. It says that 0F23 is waiting at a signal, which I can't see, and I keep asking driver to call back every 15 minutes, whilst I am looking for a solution. I have a similar problem on the 04:45 start timetable, which I shall address here later.

train 6f23 enters at gainsbro trent junction and runs into worksop dn sidings. the loco will detach itself from the front and move forward (to run round its train) it should appear at signal DR1 or DR2 depending on which line u routed it into. these are stop boards so u need to authorise it past them. it will then move to signal WP621 (this is located at the left hand exit of worksop down sidings) at this point u will be unable to see the train as the sidings have no track circuiting (hence no red indication of the train but it is there) signal the train to signal WP250 which is the shunt signal on the mainline towards shireoaks. the loco will then appear to you as it leaves the sidings. this is 0f23. 6f23 is stil in the sim sat in the siding to which you first routed it and will stay there. run 0f23 round its train and back into the siding 6f23 is sat in and it will join up.

i find sticky notes are good for keeping track of what train is where in the sidings as i can actually see them

hope this helps
