Fascinating.
I wonder how many secret bunkers have been fitted into the tunnel sections to those long-closed stations?
As for Paris, when I was there it did seem like occasionally the trains did a 90 degree turn in a carriage length, and it looks pretty much as if they actually do. No wonder they put rubber guide wheels on the ends of the stock.

I am sure that Aldwych station was used to store the Elgin marbles during the war

I'm pretty sure it was the tunnels between Holborn and Aldwych, not the station. From memory, the British Museum put a lot of stuff in those tunnels.
