Brighton Beta 19/08/2011 at 21:35 #19604

Whilst I had hoped to release Three Bridges as a trio, it appears that is not likely in the near future. Instead, I have put Brighton into the beta area with no expiry date. This at least lets you have a play in the knowledge that there may well be bugs outstanding. The sim, as per real life, is configured as a two-person simulation, though it is manageable on your own (just). Find it in the Downloads -> Official Software -> Simulations (beta) area here.

mmmmm......sneaky move......most unexpected and should definatley keep everyone happy. Only problem is it's 9 in the morning over here and although I can download it I cannot play it in the office, someone might see me........will just have to wait for another 7 or 8 hours......but as usual I KNOW it will be worth waiting for.

Nice one Geoff and thanks once again for what I know will be yet another splendid addition to the team.

out of interest is there much difference between the current three bridges layout, and the layout when brighton had its own powerbox?

Had 5A29 enter at Lovers Walk L11, set it's route to Shunt Signal 1257 and noted it got an overlap beyond the signal, despite the route being from a shunt signal to another shunt signal. Suspect this isn't correct behaviour so thought I'd report my observation just in-case....I do realise the simulation is a beta and that there may well be bugs outstanding, etc, as the post that started this thread stated.

Sam365 and I have now played Brighton from 0400 to 1000 sim time and the only issue we've found is the call-on problem. Other than that, it's just numerous inconvenient failures. Thank you for the excellent sim. :)

EDIT: Make that 1500 sim time.

I'll double check but note the overlap markers on the diagram. Note that some shunt signals DO have overlaps - depends on risks etc.

I have played about 45 miniutes of the sim and have had no problems. My score is somehow 56% after about 33 wrong routes and the same number of wrong platforms.
Anyway a great sim,Thank you.

EDIT 33 means 3

Arggh...

Signallers do not do SPAD's because they are not sat on a train.

SPAD is a term which is used when referring to a train that has accidentally passed a signal at danger either due to human error or some kind of system failure. When you authorise a train to pass a signal at danger it is deliberate therefore we would not use the term SPAD.

The majority of signallers will refer to it as "talking by".

Anyway, sorry for the rant, couldn't help myself, I hate hearing people on SimSig say they SPAD'd a train.

Back to the thread, nice sim, thanks Geoff

Well done with the sim. Fantastic bit of work from the Developers.

One little thing is that there is the word AISED written in the top left hand corner of the sim. I presume that had an R infront of it for a level crossing somewhere (probably Keymer Junction). Anyone else get this?

I've not got that.

Do you have the RAIS indication at Spatham Lane AHB?

I've also seen the "AISED" in the top left, as well as "AILED" in red.. it's had a couple of other words too, but I can't remember them now.

Aside from that, the main issue I've found (apart from the call-on problem) is signals not clearing when they should.. happens in various places across the route, 369 seems to be one of the worst offenders.

Otherwise - what a cracking sim. Can't wait to have a full on multiplayer with the other two sims when they're released.
