I have recently heard that in the plan for reorganising signalling on the 'West of England' line from Basingstoke to Exeter, Yeovil Junction Signal Box will become redundant and be demolished. I would like to start two discussions - one to collect as much history about the signal box, and stories from signalmen and others about its past. The other to try to see if it is possible to save it from demolition. I am looking for people with positive ideas about how this could be done, where it could go, and how to raise the money and persuade Network Rail to take their time so that it is not demolished before we have a running campaign and plan to save it. I have set up a Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/home.php?sk=group_110137229060006 Please get in touch if you can help - here, or via the Facebook Group, or through skype tony001234 or e-mail to tony.reese@mail.com Tony Reese Log in to reply |

Tony, I expect you may have thought of this already, but get in touch with folks that have managed to save other boxes to see how they did so, for example, St. Albans South. See the Friends website at http://www.jo37.btinternet.co.uk/sigbox/index.html and use the ‘contact’ option on the left hand side of the home page. Log in to reply |
