Hi. I am unable to find the via buttons on the Euston sim. Can yo please tell me where they are. This looks an excellent sim but I am having trouble with these butons! Thanks to all for your hard work. David. David Deadman Log in to reply |

Really ! on mine they are blue with a letter beside them. You cant see these, I think outside platform 10 there is the "A" button (from memory) Blessed are the true believers, for only they shall walk the Path, and they shall be welcomed unto the realm of the Ori and made as one with Them. a fair point (from a beginners point of view) is that there is no definition of via buttons or their use shown in the manual, the knowledge of their appearance and purpose is assumed

I suppose, it says to go from here to here you need buttons a/b/x etc..... But you then have to realise what the buttons actually are. In previous games got used to a blue arrow, but on this its a round blue button. One (or a few) of the signals are actually via buttons, am I right? It took me quite a long time to figure it out. It's the 5th or 6th signal from the rightmost.

Added extra image of blue roundel to Wiki Signalling Display page, also added "Via Button" to description line. HTH.

I did write: "You will notice 13 blue buttons in this area, labelled A to N. As has been said before, Via buttons are not a new concept in Simsig but where not too common. They only exist in complicated places and if you see them on SimSig then chances are that's because they exist in real life. New street also has via buttons which are needed to set routes. You need to think carefully about which way to send trains to their destation to avoid delaying subsequent trains. The same applies with Euston. Log in to reply |

I have to say that after being so used to King's Cross not having to do the Via work, this causes some amount of exertion !

If memory serves me correcty there were 3 via buttons on Kings Cross, that were blue button type like Euston.

Normally, you set the route from Signal 296 (K296) into Platform 1 and it'll set it via the long route, but if you set the route via Via button A then it'll go via the short route which crosses the line out of Platforms 2 and 3. I cannot see the use of it (Via button A) for trains leaving Platform 1. The 'short route' in the Down direction from P1 is automatically selected if the route is set from 285 to 295 (an attempt to use the 'via' button will fail) as the other route requires a route set to 287 and then on from there. Thanks Agilchrist for a rather abrupt reply. I used to drive trains, not signal them! I would not reply like that to questions concerning my profession, if a member wanted any information no matter how obvious it would seem!
