Multi-player Interference 15/01/2012 at 22:23 #27389

Today, whilst participating in KymriskaDraken's hosting of Edinburgh, some person had control of F11 (other than the host) and created havoc by having trains spad signals all over the sim.

GeoffM/ Clive, can you throw any light on how this could happen? Could it be a Firewall problem?

TIA

One of the players said it was not accessible.

I have the IP address of the person (and I use that term in its loosest possible sense) and suffice it to say that the IP block from that ISP has been blocked from attempting a connection to my computer ever again. Someone using Orange Broadband in Woking accoding to my sources.

And if ever I meet this muppet I will connect him to the OHLE and see how he likes it.

No Barry, that was F11 which is where I thought it was for clients. It is, as JC92 says, in the multiplayer menu.

It is provided via phone calls. These incidents happened without phone calls.

Kev, when you asked the question about it, JH, if I remember, said he could not access it.

Just tested, F11 is not available but there is a facility as mentioned via the MP control panel to authorise any train to pass a red but it has to stop first. I was not aware of that facility myself till now.

Thanks Peter. That is interesting. If that is the case, could it be arranged for these multi-player events be logged?

Just a note for now that the location within the UK is not reliable. Ownership by Orange is perhaps slightly more reliable.

FWIW, depending on the website you look my address up on, I'm located in various localities between Southampton and Edinburgh. Same for the company I work for.

Yes, becaused I asked about F11, not the Multiplayer control panel.

Kev, when you asked the question about it, JH, if I remember, said he could not access it.

Yes, I know the location needs to be taken with a fairly large pinch of salt

Events from a multiplayer game can actually be logged, but it is difficult to work what the person is doing.
"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer
