Would it be possible to do the London underground in places as a sim
and also what about the Manchester Tramlink is that controlled by anyone if so would that be possible.

The Waterloo and City line is already simulated (Drain).

Wembley Suburban also has the Bakerloo Line from Queens Park to Harrow & Wealdstone. And NLL has a small section of the District Line from Gunnersbury Junction to Richmond.

Anything not on the banned list is possible. Though I'm not sure how Tramlink is controlled. In the city centre it's mainly traffic lights from memory.

EDITED: In the City Centre and the Eccles line beyond Pomona, it's white tram signals interlocked with traffic lights. Outside the city centre it's colour lights.

Also, the system is called the "Metrolink", not Tramlink.

The white tram signals only provide signalling in relation to avoiding conflicting flows with other traffic - they don't provide any separation between trams. The Bury and Altrincham lines use automatic two-aspect colour lights, the Eccles and South Manchester lines work on line-of-sight principles - and I believe the plan is to make the Bury and Altrincham lines line-of-sight as well when they (eventually) roll out the new Tram Management System.

Hagside level crossing (near Bury) has a crossing box but I think it's now CCTV-controlled. There are two more level crossings near Navigation Road but I believe they both belong to Network Rail because the Stockport-Altrincham line also runs over them.

So seeing as a Metrolink sim would probably consist entirely of answering the phone to hacked-off passengers when the service falls over yet again, I don't think you'll be seeing one any time soon

According to Trackmaps, Hagside is CCTV. Apparently, there is a Metrolink/Network Rail boundry 11 chains south of Timperly, where I assume control is handed over to Deansgate Junction signalbox.

Does this mean that trams will not be separated at all? Sounds a bit daft for the Bury/Altrincham lines where the speed limit is 50mph. I suppose the speed limit would be lowered, with the knock-on effect of increasing journey times?

Do you mean Mersyrail? Of so it's controlled by Sandhills IECC and is on the "can't do" list.

Presumably so, certainly around tunnels and blind bends. I can't find a reliable source for it right now, but there's been talk about it for some time on the uk.railway Usenet group and on the various Metrolink threads on SkyscraperCity.

theres no seperation of trams in sheffield, except in the city centre due to traffic lights and road crossings, the line from nunnery to meadowhall is mostly 40mph drive on sight throughout

Croydon Tramlink runs on Line of Sight at up to 50mph. Those trams can stop a lot quicker than a train and probably quicker than a bus as well, but don't quote me on that.

the system is AFAIK drive on sight, on the basis...they dont really go fast enough to warrant full block signalling!

Line-of-Sight, although they've recently installed point indicators and (I assume) point motors (they were previously operated by a bloke and a stick). They've also put some tram bar signals in at some level crossings- in the past I think trams were signalled by normal traffic lights!

They are speeding up- apparently as part of the upgrade, about 1/2 the stops have been removed (so they now stop at every other gas lamp), and they've re-laid a good proportion of the track.
