Folks, I have recently been gifted a WTT for the UK, and I wonder if there is anything I need to consider with making a timetable for chaining? Do I create them like normal timetables? JGH Log in to reply |

The only thing you need to check is that trains that cross the Sim boundary have exactly the same TD, including any suffix characters in addition to the usual 4. Normally this is where the TD is used twice or more in a day or has alternative workings. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

I think you also need to be careful with trains entering from adjacent chained simulations near the start of the timetable. For example, let's say you want to link Swindon and Bristol, with a timetable starting at midnight. Now you've got a train entering Bristol from Hullavington at 00:05. If you were simply writing a standalone timetable for Bristol, you'd simply set the train to enter at that time, and that's it. But if you want to chain to Swindon, things are a bit different, because once you've chained the simulations, the train generation logic will obviously be deactivated at the respective locations. So the train needs to be generated by Swindon in some way or other, and arrive at Hullavington at 00:05, so it can then be handed over to Bristol. Unfortunately, in this example, the nearest seeding point is Swindon, which is about 13 mins away from Hullavington. So in that case you have two options: Let the train enter from Swindon, and live with the fact the it will invariably be delayed by at least 8 minutes, or seed it from somewhere within the Bristol area, which in that case would probably be Stoke Gifford Down Sidings. Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick. Log in to reply |
