Sadly I was busy at work due to the disruption caused by the 3 hour over-run between Cardiff & Bridgend, but I believe it was formed of a 2-car 150 - snug!On Monday, FGW replaced an HST with a 2-car unit on a Taunton-Bristol-London train. As I normally catch that train, and didn't fancy trying to get on it, I didn't hang around to find out what class it was - the Temple Meads staff were saying "the 0830 will only be 2 carriages, so please catch another train if you can" When in doubt - Contingency plan 2A. Someone didn't buy the milk - 2A. Someone sneezed at Swansea - 2A. A driver complains the cab is too cold - 2A. Unable to operate a HEx service 4 vice 8 - 2A. Points failure at Ipswich - 2A. " said:I get alot of messages via Tyrellcheck informing front line staff about swaps when it comes to HSTs with buffets being moved on or off West Country services, hopefully when we get our new buffet cars in service the problem will beconme less of an issue. Also not forgetting the removal of HST sets from the Cotswold route when the "bendy-buses" return to the franchise. When in doubt - Contingency plan 2A. Someone didn't buy the milk - 2A. This is where simplifiers come in handy. In Euston, we check on the dwell time of a train, and platform accordingly Example if a train is late, look for a platform that has a long stayer, and put the train on top of it, to leave first, or failing that put in into an empty platform and re-platform something else.
