0M34 problem and subsequent route setting issues 16/02/2012 at 19:15 #29594

I've run into a problem with routing trains in and out of platforms at Euston.

It started when I struggled to route light engine 0M34 from platform 7 to the Down Carriage Shed via the Down Carriage Shed shunt neck.

I assumed the route should be via BOR 1 or 2, but although this should be a valid route, using DEG route selectors, I could not set a route; always getting the message "Point(s) locked normal by another route", even though no other trains were in the vicinity nor other routes set.

Rightly or wrongly, I changed some points manually by clicking on them, and eventually I managed to set a route.

However since then, virtually every route I have tried to set into and out of Euston's platforms have failed, unless I set some of the points manually. It all worked perfectly up to then...

Can anyone shed light on:

1) How I should have got 0M34 to the Down C.S. Shunt Neck

2) How I can "reset" things so that the routing works OK?

Many thanks!

Rob

Hi Clive,

Thanks for your interest.

I've attached a saved game, just overlook the piled up trains - it only got this bad once the routing problem started

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Derbybest,

Can I just clarify I'm "clicking the right buttons"?

I click 7, D, E, G then 61.

Is this what you did?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

In your save file you have a load of points locked (blue points) if you left click the points and clear the blue then you can route as normal.

Thanks Tlib, I'll give that a go.

Still not sure why 0M34 wouldn't route from P7 to BOR1 or 2; I've gone back and still can't see any locked points at that stage; I think I've inadvertantly locked them in my attempt to set a route for 0M34 then compounded the problem thereafter...

Cheers,

Rob

Cancel that; just looked closer and one set was locked, preventing the route from P7 to BOR from setting.

All now fine.

Thanks to all for help and advice.
