Hi all, I gather that Section C notices have now been issued for the following boxes to close: - Hartlebury Station (OWW, 131m 73ch) - Kidderminster Junction (OWW, 135m 17ch) - Churchill & Blakedown (OWW, 138m 51ch) - Stourbridge Junction (OWW, 142m 25ch) - Kingswinford South Jcn (KWD, 144m 33ch) The closure is apparently scheduled to take place in August 2012 with control passing to Stourbridge Work Station in West Midlands Signalling Centre. Interestingly, the signalbox.org site - from where the above information comes - says that the fringe boxes will be Droitwich Spa and Kidderminster Station [SVR]. I assume Kidderminster SVR is named as a fringe box for engines transferring from mainline metals onto SVR metals? Can't see why else it would be mentioned. Could be an opportunity for an enlarged Saltley sim layout at some point in the future? Dave Log in to reply |

Blakedown and Hartlebury both supervise level crossings, and the timetable would probably be unworkable without them as block posts at some points in the day. The fringe to the SVR is due to the new layout at Kidderminster Junction where access to the Severn Valley will be signalled in both directions to full passenger standards, with a slotting arrangement between the two boxes for certain movements. " said:" said:I didn't actually mean Kidderminster as I know that controls a decent area. However, as I did see today, they are upgrading both crossing at Hartlebury and Blakedown, I assume this is something to do with it?" said:So a goods loop, reversing siding and connection to the SVR at Kidder Jn have "no point"?About time I say.
