Please add your name to the events page as soon as, and by Sunday night as we need to give buffet numbers to the pub on Monday. Also payment by then would be appreciated, and by Wed 21 March latest. I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either. Last edited: 14/03/2012 at 20:43 by AndyG Log in to reply |

Can I take it that there will be the normal updates from one or two attendees via the forum to those of us in the outside world who cannot make it. Those of us in the far east or down under still take an interest even though we cannot be there. Geoff Log in to reply The following user said thank you: sunocske |

May I say a big thanks to the organisers of todays meet for another wonderful day. My second meet now and was a very enjoyable experience, would recommend it to anyone! Big thanks to AndyG for allowing me to come and for the host of Kings Cross (think it was James Warwick?) for putting up with my incompetency on Palace Panel (it was a bit chaotic as you will all know ) Nice to see everyone again and also to some new faces (a pleasure to meet you all). From what I remember, there were no major errors on the Kings Cross timetable up until the time I left it. We tried our best to break it, but the TT still managed to recover from a stack of 8 (ish) trains queued up on the Hertford Loop with some wizardry by James Warwick. No idea about Peterborough as I didnt play it, but Cambridge seemed allright. Allthough Dave and Ben would have given a much more informative response as they were the ones who wrote it (cheers lads, a great set!), I think I can say we are all looking forward to the release. I have two things to do before I release the timetables: correct a typo in the length of 6M28 (it being 554m instead of 544m meant it didn't fit in Peterborough goods loop - thanks Daniel!), and write a few notes on the odder workings in the timetable (such as the 3J31-36 water-jet railhead treatment train). I hope to do that either tomorrow or Monday once I'm home. There are other things I'd like to do - like write rules so that you can run KX on its own but still have 1Cxx and 1Txx return late from Cambridge if you send them late - but that can wait for the inevitable second release when people find bugs. For the record, Ben generated the timetable with all the timing points and approximate train classes in; my job was then to figure out all the next workings, joins, and divides, ensure accurate types of stock according to the diagrams at the time (or, in the case of the 313s, figuring out the diagrams from scratch) and generally tweak everything to make sure it works according to the sim. Thanks to everyone for helping in successful and enjoyable meet! Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Sam Tugwell |

Some of this will echo the previous comments, but I will say everything I have wanted to. Firstly, despite the lower than "normal" attendee numbers (around 30?), I see yesterday as another successful meet, and, despite the lack of devs (or maybe because of the lack of devs), I felt a good atmosphere of one group of people (the previous meets I've been to, I've noticed an atmosphere very much of them and us in relation to some of the "higher up" people, and felt very put out at times), but this was not apparent yesterday. Perhaps this could be taken into account with future meets where numbers may hopefully increase again. Back to yesterday - for me it was more relaxed than at previous meets, and I felt like I could do as much or as little as I wanted as regards the operating of a panel. I ran Cross panel for a couple of hours through the first half of the "rush" hour (only 1 train in KX at one point about 0740)! And then moved north to Peterborough Panel 3 (the station), to run all the trains I'd just sent out of KX! As Dave has already detailed, I had my daily bug as well with 6M28! I think the meet ran well, and was a challenge to the players and "control", whilst not being stressful or overwhelming for anyone (I hope). It's important to say thankyou to Andy Greenland and those who assisted him in organising the day, and thank you to all of you who came along. I don't know yet whether I shall be at Newcastle (the logistics are a little tight for me), but I wish you all well until next time. Finally, I would like to echo what was said yesterday, in wishing Geoff all the best in his new adventure in life, and through the challenges and hurdles over the next few weeks and months until things settle down for you again. All the best. God bless, Daniel Wilson Last edited: 25/03/2012 at 10:53 by onlydjw Log in to reply |

I'm glad to see that eveyone that went to the meet seems to have had an enjoyable, even relaxing time spent in convivial surrroundings! I'm sorry that I could not be there this time but money is tight for me atm. Hopefully I will get to the Newcastle meet in July. I look forward to it.

Glad to hear that Jinx lives up to his reputation! Sorry I couldn't make this meet - family commitments - but don't tell them I would have preferred to be supping a few beers up London at the meet rather than making smalltalk on the effects of the budget on household supplies aaaaargh  Log in to reply |
