Name where you can take a single train journey between two cities with identical names. I don't mean, for example, "London East" to "London West" but from "Alphaville" to "Alphaville" where those two cities are completely separate from each other. Amtrak passenger trains stop at both Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and Vancouver, Washington, USA. I don’t know if they ever run a single train that stops at both locations, however.

They do. The Cascades, departing Vancouver BC at 0640 today (1440 GMT) arrives Vancouver WA at 1425 (2225 GMT). That's a daily service. It's sold out for today, but seats are available for $89 tomorrow. Log in to reply |

Amtrak train 64 departs Niagara Falls (Ontario) at 10:18 today (15:18 GMT) and arrives at Niagara Falls (NY) - a different city in a different country - 16 minutes later. Fare is $10 and seats are available. Amtrak train 133 departs Newark (NJ) at 13:20 today (18:20 GMT) and arrives at Newark (DE) at 14:55 (19:55 GMT). Fare is $106. In Argentina we have a Mercedes in the Buenos Aires province and another in the San Luis province. Both are connected by one the the two main lines towards Mendoza. Varios long distance trains (leaving Buenos Aires city on the San Martín terminal at Retiro) would pass both stations on the way to either Mendoza City or San Juan City. Just to add a twist, it would theoretically be possible to connect to Mercedes in Uruguay albeit there'd necessarily be a train change due to gauge differences. Wide gauge (most of argentina) connects to standard gauge (eastern argentina and uruguay) by changing trains at Caseros or Pilar stations (standard and wide gauge are side by side at those stations). Border would be crossed at the Salto/Paysandú bridge. There are also "Rosario" cities and stations both in Argentina (actually there's 4 stations in the city: North, Central, East and West) and Uruguay (same caveats as previous case, changing gauge at the outskirts of Buenos Aires - Caseros or Pilar), although you'd have to take quite a long way around to keep on the tracks.
