Hi I was at my local station at Shipley, W Yorks waiting to see A4 60009 doing a loco movement from York NRM to Carnforth but got told a few different reasons for it to be cancelled. The main rumour was the support coach derailed on platform 10 at York. Does anyone know what actually happened? Dave Log in to reply |

Isn't York on the East Coast route instead of West Coast?

" said:Isn't York on the East Coast route instead of West Coast?West Coast Railways is a train operating company for diesel and steam based in carnforth. They operate a lot of well know tours like the scarborough spa express and the jacobite. Have a look at their website http://www.westcoastrailways.co.uk/ A4 60009 was planned to do a loco movement from York to Carnforth as it is supposed to be doing a steam tour this coming Saturday Last edited: 31/01/2013 at 20:20 by Steam Buff Log in to reply |

There are pictures elsewhere in the internet of a broken chair at the point where the wheel of the support coach derailed. Whether it was cause or effect is not known. It is also reported that the track is known to be in bad condition and planned for renewal in the next few weeks. Usual disclaimers about the reliability of information picked up from the internet. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

My sources say the track spread under the train, so that fits. I can also report that 60009 and support coach have moved to Carnforth this afternoon. God bless, Daniel Wilson Log in to reply |
