Looking at the Open Train Times website on the North London Line noticed some very strange Reporting Numbers. Running along with other normal services sre, 460F, 648K and 655K and so on. They don't show-up in the timetables. Any ideas? Log in to reply |

I think but I'm not 100% sure, they are freight paths.

They are indeed freight trains, though there's a requirement to 'obfuscate' headcodes (along with a couple of other things), so you get the right class (4/6/7/8/9) and then an automatically incremented suffix, 00A to 99Z. I've filed a bug with Peter about not being able to search the headcodes (it only accepts NANN and these are NNNA) Log in to reply |

They are freight trains. According to the Open Train Times blog, freight schedules have been made available again, provided that the headcodes are hidden for 'reasons of confidentiality'. Therefore, the signalling maps show a placeholder TD, and on a location search freight's show as ****, operator ZZ. freights running class 1 are probably the post/parcel trains,

it wll assgin randon number with a litter at the end as far i know it was not a post train. i my be wrong

I was under the impression the first number was the one the actual train was using, and it was only the last 3 characters that are proceduraly generated.

I'm not sure where you are seeing these numbers as Open Train Times shows all freight trains with the headcode as FRGT. Looking through the last hours worth of D steps for the LNW region, it does appear that the first digit is the trains class.
