The private messaging system has been updated - you should now get email notification if a PM arrives. To enable this, click on "Private Messages" in the left hand column, then "Settings" in the main page area below your existing messages. There is also supposed to be an optional pop-up but I can't get that to work currently.

I now see the first few words of the PM under the PM heading in the left-hand Menu Sidebar. If they truly are PMs I would prefer it if this text did not show (or is it just my paranoia).
