Ahead of Mallard's 126mph 75 anniversary tomorrow, this may be of interest: BBC News item Edit: I'm not quite sure about the stretch of track where the record was set, Stoke Bank, being described as "...straight and level..." in the commentary. I thought Mallard had a little bit of assistance by gravity in setting the record. I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.
