Preventing SPADs - the Sydney way 23/07/2013 at 07:07 #47486

Here is one method of preventing "ding ding and away" SPADs.

Trains in Sydney, Australia have this indicator at every platform.

The indicator shows a blue aspect when a proceed aspect shows on the next signal, and is unlit when a stop aspect is shown at the next signal.

Therefore, the guard is not permitted to let the train proceed without a blue signal - hopefully preventing SPADs!
