I would not rely too much on the signal colours - even on Network Rails own CCF system they tend to update a lot slower than the train describers step.

Seems to update the signals quite well as far as I've seen.

Now that will be really handy now to see exactly what the perpetual problem is with my train - except I can't get it to work on my wife's mobile and I don't have that type of phone (yet) but fellow commuters do.

Thanks for the alert.

Thanks for the info, makes me feel like I'm there albeit 9 hours earlier. One question. What does "-LB-"mean on the describer?

The maps would be even handier if each header code on the map was active and labelled a description of destination etc with a right click on the mouse.

As Paul correctly said. Line Blockage.

WON Item 33 Is the item number in the weekly operating notice. Line Blockages should be published in the WON. The WON will give details of the times, the blocking points (extremities) and the type of work (patrolling for example).

There was a thread with lots of variations of things you may see. Off the top of my head here are a few:-

-T3- Engineers Possession Rule Book T3
-T4- Engineers Possession of Siding Rule Book T4
BTET - Blocked to Electric Traction
NOGO - FFS don't send a train this way!!
3CAR - There's already a 3 car set in this 6 car platform
CLSD - Closed (Line or perhaps fringe signal box)

There are many 4 letter words that can be put in the TD berths, however as link shows you have to be much more careful what you put these days

RUST being one, used for bits of track that are Out of Use! Which is only 3 letters.

1TRN - To do with running a train under caution after a T3 (IIRC)
DMIC - Demic - Train is Kaput
TEST - Self - explanatory - Used to test TDs after failures (You can also input into berths from a Techs Terminal and simulate trains by occupying "tracks" via this computer to aid in faulting.

-T4- Engineers Possession of Siding Rule Book T4

Rule Book module T4 no longer exists. It is more usual to see -SP- or similar for a sidings possession.

TREE / STIK is always a funny one to see, but not to have to put in yourself!

Now I commonly put in -ST- when the Techs are mucking about with any equipment outside of a proper blockage.

And I always enjoyed a Liverpool Street signaller who put VERB OTEN in two adjacent berths during a possession.

Very interesting this. Spent both my work-bound and return journeys yesterday following my train's progress!

I was on leave today so watched my normal train make almost perfect progress (well it lost a minute dwelling at Arlesey) from home. It was interesting to see how the flow worked.

Looks like a lot of duplicated TDs, so probably something wrong with the feed.
I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Yes it's been doing that off and on all day and I've exchanged feedback with them.

I was late out of work and watched the train I would have been on make swift progress to beyond Hitchin - all from the discomfort of a more crowded slower following service. Perhaps not the best time to use this site as it didn't exactly make me feel any better

One last funny TD berth memory.

I just remembered the wonderful Train Description that my colleagues and I used when I was working at Stratford (North London Line). It was during the big closure for track and platform rebuilding work between Camden and Stratford that started in February 2010.

SHUT -TIL JUNE

Some TD's that I use when I'm on one of the panels at Rugby SCC

NOGD - No guard
NODR - No driver
NOCR - No crew
NOGO - previously mentioned don't send a train that way!
BLOK - Line blocked
-LB- - Line blockage (the old T12/T2)
-T3- - T3 possession
AMBL - Ambulance attention to train (or NENA)

KNKR - Knacker, broken train
GLUG - Flooding
SOWC - Showing Occupied When Clear

Don't think I've used many more than that
