Cowlairs box will shut in October, with control being passed to two new workstations in Edinburgh IECC. If you've played Central Scotland then you might find these photos of interest:

Interesting that WSSC doesn't control the lines surrounding the box! Not the only place like this of course.

The logic is to eventually have the whole E&G controlled from one box. There will just be Carmuirs East and Greenhill left to go into Edinburgh after October.

The pictures you see there apart from the first one are of the simulator, which was installed on the 8th of August.

Yep, that's correct. The first picture shows the primary and secondary workstations on the operating floor. The screen layouts on the simulator are identical to the appearance of the real workstations once they've been commissioned in October. Training of the Cowlairs men is ongoing, I believe they've all now been converted to IECC and are now receiving workstation specific training. There are two simulators at Edinburgh, the TRESIM one shown here and a DeltaRail one which uses different hardware.

Thanks for the pics. Excuse my ignorance, but what are those little pink dotted lines in the LH screen in Pic 6?

It means the traction power (Either OHLE, or 3rd/4th rail is isolated in that area.

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

That'd be OHLE for that area

Yep, it means the line is blocked to electric traction; diesel services can still run. Those are the pink reminders (ISO) on Simsig. The bit with the BTET reminders on actually comprises the entire area of electrification for both workstations (for now at least...)

Anyway, I forgot to say that Grangemouth Jn will also have to be closed and decontrolled to Edinburgh before the whole E&G can be said to be controlled from one place.

Strictly speaking it does not mean that it's isolated, only that electric trains are blocked (as per Ron). The juice may still be on. There is no linkage between the power systems and the display in the IECC - only the signaller applies and removes the reminder.

What do the red arrows mean at Maryhill on the overview screen?
"Don't stress/ relax/ let life roll off your backs./ Except for death and paying taxes/ everything in life.../ is only for now." (Avenue Q)

EDIT as I did not read the original post properly, so my comment was irrelevant and it is too late for me to delete it.

The red arrows show the limits of the Patrolman's lockouts. They currently show static on the overviews (but not on the detail views) - something that will be changed in the near future. There are other lockouts at Queen Street station.
