I am travelling back from Manchester Piccadilly to Bournemouth on Monday 16th September. I haven't got a seat reservation but I would like to know if my ticket is valid on this route which is a lot longer but better chance of a seat. Manchester Piccadilly to Milton Keynes central, Milton Keynes central to Clapham junction, Clapham junction to Bournemouth. my ticket was booked and I paid through redspottedhanky.com and is marked "not London". if not I will have to suffer with an uncomfortable voyager to Bournemouth which will probably be a 4-car. in Bournemouth is seems they don't like to send a 5 car there. Looks to me like it will have to be XC (Cross Country). The XC services start from Manchester. For example, 10:27 Departure from Manchester Piccadilly [MAN] > 15:11 Arrival @ Bournemouth [BMH] 4 Hour 44 Minute Journey time. (Hourly @ 27 past) Sorry, it will have to be a Voyager, but since the service starts at Manchester, you should have a good chance at even a table seat. Plus, I think you should be able to reserve a seat up to something like 2 hours before the journey. I hope this post has been of some help to you Last edited: 15/09/2013 at 03:31 by EddyHarris Log in to reply |

If you put Manchester to Bournmouth via Kensington Olymipia into a ticket search engine it does come up with a "not via London" off peak and anytime fare of £112.50 and £120 respectively. So in principle it should be possible but it'll depend on what ticket you actually have. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

thanks for the replys. my ticket is an off peak return. I came up on cross country just wondering bout different route that was all. I saw on crosscountrytrasins.co.uk that they offer a 10minute seat reservation service so it might be worth seeing bout doing that. thanks again rodney30 Log in to reply |

thank you for all your help. got a seat on the cross country train. no problems except for late running on Friday (arrived Manchester Piccadilly 45 mins late due to broken down freight train between oxford and banbury. also the 1645 bmh to man was the first direct cross country train to reach man for 3 hours the two in front of the 1645 terminated at Birmingham new street). and today delayed 20 mins at Coventry signalling problems. at least one claim going in was told to put in the claim by the cross country train manager.
