Is this possible? I tried it some time ago without success. I have a lot of time on my hands on night shifts, but I cannot install anything onto the work pc as I don't have the necessary privileges. If it is possible, how would it be set up on the usb stick? Log in to reply |

I think the fonts will be your biggest problem. Copying the DLLs/BPLs onto the USB stick is easy enough, though you'd probably have to tell the loader each time where to find the data files (ie on the stick and not in your documents - unless you do have access to that). Somebody clever might be able to suggest how to run Windows or Linux from your stick so you just reboot your work PC, assuming you can at least get it to boot off USB. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

PortableApps.com supports portable fonts. http://portableapps.com/support/portable_apps_suite#fonts However I have not tried it. Also not sure if SimSig will get them. Another technology you may try is Application Virtualization, which packs applications into an exe which redirects file and registry read/write and capture API calls if needed (not sure if I get the inner-working right), basically like a sandbox, so that the application can be made "portable". VMware ThinApp and APP-V are commercial examples, but you can try Cameyo which is free for private use. It is possible - I have done that several times when visiting relatives whos computers don't have internet access without doing anything particularly complicated!

I tend to put all the files needed on the USB, then copy/paste the files to the computer i want them on. When im done Im put any saved games back on the USB, delete the sim from the computer and i still have the updated game and sim still on the USB. Log in to reply |

I would have thought the easiest option is put a Linux distro on the stick see and then run Simsig under WINE.
