Messaging seems a bit hit and miss now in the loader sims. I have just completed a hosting session on West Hampstead and noted the following: 1 If the F10 "Send Messages" window is open, incoming messages appear here but any audio alerts or pop-up boxes etc (as set in F3) don't occur. Messages can be easily missed if engrossed in route-setting etc. 2 If the F10 "Send Messages" window is not open, incoming messages appear in the general messages window, which seems reasonable! and audio alerts and pop-ups etc. do occur. Messages are less likely to be overlooked - at least until they scroll off the display. 3 Back in the F10 window, each user gets colour coded, which is fine, but the blue highlight to the current or most recent message can make legibility difficult when the colours are similar. 4 The bar to type in your message fails to take the focus for the first character, producing an annoying ping and then picking up at the second character, thus requiring correction! :yikes I would suggest that the audio alerts and pop-ups as set in F3 should always occur whether or not the F10 window is open or not and the colours in the F10 box tweaked a bit Signalman Exeter West & Llangollen Last edited: 09/11/2013 at 20:24 by NCC1701 Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Aurora |

I preferred messages coming through the ordinary message box, I don't have a particularly large screen, so I have to obscure part of the sim with the box, what is worse though, are some of the colours used by the "new" F10 box - the blue line that highlights a new messsage makes said colours illegible, the greens appear to be the worst culprits.

I too agree that, the old system suited me. The new system needs a lot of alterations to make it workable for me. Mike. Log in to reply |

I too preferred the old messaging format. I'm sure there will be some who like it, so perhaps it could be made optional? Log in to reply |

The main problem with the new F10 message box is the EXTREMELY small font used with no apparent way of enlarging the font size to a readable size. Could the developers please investigate how to increase the font size ( to user preference size ) much as what happened with the train messages box where the font can be adjusted by the user. Same font and size used elsewhere. However, that form appears to have escaped the DPI scaling that I recently disabled for all the other forms so on a non-standard DPI setting it may appear less than optimally. I'll see what improvements can be made with the suggestions here.

Would just like to add that when typing a new message, it only appears in the send message box even if you quit out of the box after typing it. So if you don't have the send message box open you can't see your own messages in the general sim message box. Conversely, if you keep the send message box open, new messages are very hard to see due to the blue line through them, and also easily missed as there is no sound for new messages in the send message box. Apart from the messaging issue though the refreshed sims are great! Mucho appreciation! Log in to reply |

I Don't have any problems with new message box. I adapted quickly to these changes, I found it very good, because it improved another message box, it is only for the specific warning functions of the simulator. Congratulations Geoff and Team. Cheers, Thiago. (CTC) :cheer: Log in to reply |

If there is a slight delay between the two key strokes, the message will not appear in the Message window.
