Now I'm not too familiar with the route but how can ANYTHING coming from the north call at Bedford using Platform 4, as far as my knowledge goes - it's only signalled for northbound workings?

It'll either be a typo when the timetable was created or, more likely, an error in the WTT which has been faithfully recreated for maximum authenticity.
