6C24 is stuck at Westbury DR waiting to be joined by 0C24. Unfortunately, 0C24 seems to have been omitted from the timetable.

No matter. Abandon the join, Reverse direction, smash through all the other rules blocking its way and finally it cemented itself into place. The little engine that could.

To which timetable do you refer?
If you let us know then the relevant timetable developer can investigate.

Assuming this is the Summer 2007 tt supplied with the sim, 0C24 is the loco which brought the train in from Theale - it detaches from one end, runs round the train (via the platforms at Westbury) and joins at the other end of the train. Can you confirm that the loco (0C24)has detached from 6C24? Until 0C24 "arrives" at Westbury DR it wont join the train.

If that is the activity sequence, surely 6C24 won't say it's waiting to join until after the loco has detached?

Thanks for feedback. Yes, this is the TT supplied with the sim (v4.2 b2).

I returned to an earlier saved game to see if 0C24 was indeed the motive power for 6C24.

At 14:00 6C24's TT read: "WESTBURY 13:09 13d31 DR DF:0C24 J:0C24". (I wasn't aware of this when I first posted).

At 14:04 I see the message "6C24 has finished dividing". So I set a route for 0C24 from signal 202 to 104 to begin the runaround, but nothing happens.

At 14:06. 6C24's TT now reads: "WESTBURY 13:09 13d31 DR J:0C24". Still no sign of 0C24, no telephone calls or messages.

By 14:13 still no further advance, no messages.

Conclusions:
1) 0C24 was indeed the loco pulling 6C24, which is why it didn't appear separately in the TT.

2) Some bug seems to have prevented 0C24 from displaying itself and running around.

1) 0C24 is definitely in the TT - when you looked did you have the "hide entered trains" box checked? If so, you wouldn't see it after the divide had taken place.
2) Did you check F2 after the "divide completed" message was received to see if 0C24 was actually in sim?

I would hazard a guess that 0C24 was actually sitting at Signal 202 but had not rung in. It probably won't "display" itself as I don't think there is ACI (Automatic Code Insertion) on Westbury. Did you have an unexplained red track circuit on the Down Reception after you forced 6C24 away? If so, that would be 0C24. If you get problems of this sort in the future, it is always helpful to attach a save of the "game" from the time you have the problem so other people can look and maybe identify what is happening.

Conclusion (1) - "0C24 was indeed the loco pulling 6C24, which is why it didn't appear separately in the TT"
Every train has its own TT and will appear in the TT list separately regardless of how the train is gets into the sim (either from a divide or entering at a specific entry point). Postal alluded to why you may be able to see it.

Conclusion (2) - "Some bug seems to have prevented 0C24 from displaying itself and running around."
Before we start concluding that its a bug...lets make sure we get all the information. Here's more food for thought.

When you say there is still no sign of of OC24, you didn't state where you were looking for it. If you are referring to it's headcode appearing in a berth at signal 202 on the track diagram Westbury probably does not have ACI (automatic code insertion) or if it does, it may be turned off (Its been a while since I actually played Westbury). Either way, it will mean it becomes your responsibility to put the trains headcode in. This is not a bug, its simply the way the sim works.

Now, assuming you insert the headcode manually at signal 202, you should then be able to click on it to get its timetable. If it comes up as no timetable you'll know something is amiss.

As for not getting any phone call or messages, I wouldn't expect any messages (other than the finished dividing one that you've already seen) and if you have already set the route, you wouldn't get a phone call either if the train is in visual range of the signal ahead of it which in this case it certainly is. You'll only get a call when a train wants to depart but the signal ahead of it is red or the signal is too far away and it requests authority to proceed.

Now, assuming the train is where it should be and does have a TT, why hasn't the train moved? Well......there are a couple of perfectly normal operating scenarios that may force the train to wait for a specific time before it moves....
1) 0C24 may have a specifically timed departure (not 00:00 which means go when its ready)
2) There may be a rule in force preventing 0C24 from departing.

The key is, as Postal mentioned, what does "F2" train list say about 0C24 in terms of where it is and what its doing? That should tell you all you need to know.

I'm currently playing this TT, and have just got to 6C24. I can confirm that 0C24 is indeed missing from the timetable- 6C24 shows "dividing train", however no train is detached.

Thanks Lardybiker. I'll check all that the next time I play this TT.

Apologies, then. I looked at the latest version of the TT I've got on my system which is obviously not the most recently released version.
