Is there a way to show the signal numbers on the layout, or any way to interrogate it on the SIM. Or maybe another way of putting it if it says 1A00 is stopped at signal 123, can I locate either 1A00 or signal 123 quickly without scanning the full layout.

What do the little yellow triangles do that are on the end of some of the platforms.

Sometime ARS trains on the up slow gets stuck at 532 saying it can't route to Victoria platform 9. What's happening here?

If you look on Victoria Central's wiki page there is a signal diagram that Steamer has done that you can print. Will try and find the link later...should still be on recent changes part of wiki atm.

There are either the diagrams mentioned by TimTamToe, or else the F2 train list will tell both you the location of the train in terms of stations/junctions - which should be easier to pick up than some random signal numbers - as well as - since the recent update - the panel the train is on.

They're for setting a warner route with a reduced overlap.

Could you post the exact ARS routesetting status?

Cheers Jan, missed the bit about locating just scanned and saw signal numbers so yeah also f2.

The message waiting for route available can be because another train may need the path before 2r17 for example if it is slightly early etc.

Hmm but on my example it is over 20 mins late already and honestly it just sits there.

Yes it was occupied but still room for the arriving train. Would that make a difference?

The ARS message tells me it is waiting for the main aspect route to be available. (Denoted by the 'M' at the end of the route code) ARS doesn't always set call on routes.

It won't signal a train in to an occupied platform unless the "platform share" association is in the timetable, and the referenced train is the only one in that platform.

It can change its mind and later select a call-on or warner route as appropriate.

I would think highly unlikely at present as East Croydon (beta) AFAIAA is not a Loader sim, but both Victoria sims are.

If East Croydon were to come out of beta as a Loader sim, then I'd think there's a good chance they can be chained.

That is correct, at present you are unable to chain East Croydon to Victoria Central.

Whether something is a loader sim or an older sim doesn't affect how chaining works. All that is required is that the chaining data is present.

I suspect that East Croydon doesn't have chaining data for Victoria.

However the network protocol has changed (twice I think?), so even if it has the chaining data, if it's too old a build they won't talk.

Since we moved to port 50505, I think all protocol changes for chaining have been upwards compatible.

Presumably S Croydon predates VC so much so that it won't have provision build in.
I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Here's another question.

If I want to do an untimetabled move of a train into a siding to, say, prevent blocking a through line. What is the best procedure? Thanks.

You can just abandon the timetable, but be aware, depending on the location, the train might drop out of the sim never to return.

Indeed that can be a problem. In my experience, most of the time, if a siding appears to just roll off into nothingness (e.g. non-track-circuited sidings are two parallel thin lines, which would just end), then trains will usually disappear. On the other hand, if the siding looks like it has definite stops at the end (e.g. a little grey rectangle closing off the end of the track), then that usually means the trains will not disappear. For example, in Exeter, trains don’t disappear in New Yard (even in the headshunt), but they do disappear in Riverside Yard; New Yard headshunt has a little grey rectangle representing the buffer stops, while Riverside Yard doesn’t—it looks exactly like what it is, a black hole for trains.

The grey triangle is actually the exit arrow you use to signal the train.

The stop block is identified by the bar 90 degrees to the direction of the track, which appears the same as an overlap symbol.
