Hi there I've been playing a game called Airlinesim for quite a while now. It's a real time simulation where you have your own airline, and you play with others, and tries to be the best airline with the most success. www.airlinesim.aero - you can find more information about it there, if you don't know what I'm talking about. All I was wondering is: Does there exist something similar to this for the trainworld? I've tried google but couldn't find anything that was realistic. Log in to reply |

There was an online game called TOCGame which I believe was a University project by the author, but it died a death a few years ago. There are plenty of railway-company-running games (OpenTTD and Simutrans both being free, Railroad Tycoon, Sid Meier’s Railroads), which include things like building track and stations as well as setting up services. Usually not very realistic though. This would be in contrast to the TOCGame, which AFAICT was about setting up services on existing infrastructure.

Sadly this isn't active anymore. I was looking for an online multiplayer game, like it seems to be with the TOCGame.

We had a go at a revival, unfortunately the code we got hold of wasn't particularly stable, we never managed to even run a private game which lasted longer than around a day without some major issues.

What was it all coded in? PHP? However, I would assume you had a go at poking the code yourselves, and I don't really know much about all these crazy internet-webpage-y languages.
