Unable to update Loader 09/02/2014 at 17:42 #55300

I'm having issues trying to update the loader, currently have 4.014

Each time I start SimSigRefresher.exe (or click Check for updates in the Loader) - I click next to check for updates and the program immediately hangs and then needs to be forcibly closed via the Windows Task Manager. This is despite uninstalling the system files, restarting the computer then re-downloading, reinstalling the system files and restarting again. I've added exceptions to the appropriate files for Windows Firewall too.

Windows Event Viewer logs the crash as 'AppHangTransient' if this helps.

Did you manage to resolve this? I checked for updates yesterday morning and had the same result. Have uninstalled and then reinstalled but still wont update.

Re-installed from a saved copy of the installation file you had previously used or re-installed by getting a new download of the System Files from the SimSig site?

Folks please post the operating system you are using if you are running into this problem.

For Win 7 this is right-click Computer/Properties

it should say Windows XYZ ( XP, vista, 7,8,8.1 etc etc ) and then in System Type "64-bit Operating System" )

ALSO please let us know if Firewall or Avast or anything like that is enabled, these can cause severe issue

I don't have any specific solution to this except to ask where did you install it - default location or elsewhere? I think AppHangTransient is a very generic event but Googling around suggests network locations not responding being one possible culprit.
