Having now reached 19:00 hours on the twenty four hour timetable I do think it would be appropriate if my profile were able to be changed from Local Operations Manager to something more apt such as Crossing Keeper or Yard Foreman
To start off the first time run through I am using ARS everywhere apart from the area from Carstairs through to Cove thus being able to see what is happening elsewhere. Because of the number of messages coming through to clear level crossings and also give the yard foreman permission to let trains enter in the Mossend yard I am getting a good insight into this and also the local geography.
I must say this is an EXCELLENT Sim and really would like to thank ALL persons that have been involved with it.

I agree, it's an excellent sim with some real potential - I can't wait for a TT that makes use of all the lines in the earlier era's as that would be a real challenge!

Excellent value and a great sim!

I'm not involved in earlier timetables but I believe some are being constructed. Connected with that; a minor glitch has been found with Cleghorn crossing in 1980/90 eras which I'm hoping to get resolved before re-releasing with the fixes so far identified.

I must echo Splodge and Northroad.

Have now played it twice and what an excellent and fun SIM it is. I don't know who "did" it but they deserve a big thank you.

Given the amount of work involved in creating a Sim of this complexity and the enjoyment I've already had from it, this has to be my best spent £20 so far this year!

Superb support from the forum too.

Do read the comprehensive manual though - most of my queries were answered there if I'd read it properly before posting my woes...

Many thanks to Peter and all those who've helped get me as far as 2032.

PS Do be aware that vehicles can still get trapped at LCs even on 'perfect' setting!

Re: vehicles getting trapped at crossings, I had 3 within the first hour (00:00 to 01:00) so was worried the probability of it happening was set quite high but I've only had it happen once in the subsequent 17 hours of the sim.

To confirm Peter's statement there will (eventually) be two historic timetables from me, 1984 and 1993.

1984 is nearing completion as the individual trains/timetables were used to test the old era in the sim. All I have to do ( ) is to make them all run together nicely.

1984 gives a full set of workings around Ravenscraig and also portion working on all the cross country services at Carstairs. If you thought the phone from Mossend was ringing red hot in the 2006 timetable, just wait.

Both of these should be chainable with my corresponding Edinburgh and Cowlairs / Central Scotland timetables.

I noticed when inputting the sleeper services for a 1990's era timetable that the first of the six northbound sleepers enters from Gretna Jct. at the correct time but then reports 2 minutes late at each of the Lockerbie, Beattock, Beattock Summit and Abington passing points. At Carstairs there are allowances which then put it back on time but you get penalty points for the previous 2 minutes late reporting points. i.e. 2 minutes late x4. Did you find the same or did you adjust the entry time so that it differed from the WTT?

Geoff,

Peter may shed more light on things, but I do not think that the Gretna entry point is the same as the timing point in the WTT and have generally added a minute or so as needed if I find trains late like that, if only to keep the message count down. Some people do care about the score so I do try to make a timetable work without penalties if run 'perfectly', that is one of the challenges of timetabling writing.

A lot of recovery at Carstairs would be normal for an overnight train, some WTT have a blanket 20 minutes for any overnights to allow for SLW. I used that on my Edinburgh93 timetable. If your trains are holding time over the hills it is unlikely to be a train timing class mismatch.
