Thank you for that... one or two old memories there as well as a lot of signalling fascination.

Must admit I was never that interested in the MML until I moved to Sheffield. Interesting to see Dore station with four tracks. Haven't they proposed re-doubling the Hope Valley line passing through Dore. The approach into Sheffield (Midland) has certainly changed !!

Some of the place names on the commentary made me laugh - not how the locals pronounce them eg Beauchief is actually pronounced as Beesheaf and it is Bradway tunnel not Broadway tunnel.

Thanks for sharing this interesting video.

By the way, what are all those funny posts with arms on them ?

Gibbets where the bodies of errant train crew were displayed as a warning to others.

Yes. Where's "Totton"? Is it anywhere near Toton?

Thanks to the OP for posting these, though.

One thing that struck me was how vulnerable p-way workers seemed. Ok, they're wearing Hiviz of a sort, but I can't remember a single instance of the driver sounding the horn on approach.

Totton is between Redbridge and Ashurst (New Forest) (previously known as Lyndhurst Road), I'm sure that's not quite where they meant though ;).
