Hello! I had a flock of geese arrive at Little Chef UWC a short while ago. I wasn’t ready to grant crossing, so I said call back after next train. Sure enough, after an up train passed the UWC, I got another phone call. I still wasn’t ready, so I said call back after next train again; I had a train on the down AB section at the time. That second train exited the AB section, showed up in track circuits, and moved off down the mainline towards Bangor, but no phone call! I am absolutely positive that the down track circuit that Little Chef straddles (TLJPR06) was not occupied when I replied to the phone call, meaning according to the panel layout, the train cannot possibly have reached it yet. As it turns out, I did eventually get another phone call, but only after that second train had passed Penmaenmawr. Is this a bug? Or is there some random variation in how long after a train passes that a crossing user calls back? Log in to reply |

Can also report this issue - had two trains approaching from either direction (can't recall the actual trains) and was expecting a call and having to tell the caller to wait again. Caller didn't call back until exactly 10 minutes later, when one train was crossing Brittania Bridge and the other passing Conwy.

Hawk777 and and Sloppyjag. I have reported this to the developer on the bug reporting system for action. Paul You have to get a red before you can get any other colour Log in to reply |

Paul I've actioned the ticket. Sloppyjag and Hawk777 I can reproduce your issue, not just with this crossing and sim, but with several, I'll get back to you when I know a little more. EDIT Issue fixed on NWC and NEW "Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer Last edited: 29/06/2014 at 19:05 by headshot119 Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Hawk777 |

Once you tell the user "call back after next train", the logic is: (1) wait until a train is on the crossing; (2) wait until there is no train on the crossing and the crossing has either failed or is in the idle state (that is, barriers up and road lights off); (3) make the phone call. There's no random delay. If you have a saved game, it is possible to check where the crossing has got to in that sequence. Best to do the save at the point you think the call should happen. " said:Once you tell the user "call back after next train", the logic is:how does the sim know if a train is on a crossing? is it purely by TC occupation? if so, if a train has already occupied the TC, does this throw the whole system out of sync, especially on longer TC's. Perhaps in this instance the geese remembered their wings and didn't bother the signaller again? Did they understand the English in the first place and, although they can operate a telephone, do they really know what a train is? Would they know to call back immediately following a train or some minutes after a train? Seriously, although we have very few such crossings on LUL, the sheer number of times I've asked someone to "Call back in 10 minutes" in order facilitate a similar request, against the number of times they either a)Call back or b)Find another means to satisfy their need is roughly equal. Many here want Simsig to be as real as possible, so maybe weigh up whether there is a code change needed or if the sim is merely replicating real (random) life? Log in to reply |

No, it doesn't throw things out of sync, because it will move straight to step 2 (note that just because the TC is occupied doesn't mean the train has reached the crossing yet).Once you tell the user "call back after next train", the logic is:how does the sim know if a train is on a crossing? is it purely by TC occupation? if so, if a train has already occupied the TC, does this throw the whole system out of sync, especially on longer TC's. " said:However, I suspect your crossings are much more likely to have alternatives available (aren't they all LU-owned roads in depots?). On the big railway, there will be very few crossings that can easily be got around without a long diversion. Log in to reply |

If you're stuck in Neasden Depot, I don't think there is another way out I was just suggesting life in general can be this random, and people (and geese) are not robots, and therefore will not always see an original action carried out from start to finish - they have the right to change thier minds, and given they've been kept waiting, may have given up and decided to come back later
