Hello all,

I'm sure someone here would know, but in the 1991-1992 WTT section CG there is a 0601 Bedford - Derby under timing load D210. This seems to come off 1B08 which terminates from Derby at 0418. At the top of the columbs there is a think lined short black cross, which I can't find in the WTT notes. There is no 'parcels' or 'postal' in the description either, just 'To Derby' or '02.55 From Derby'

Is this not parcels and just a night round trip with Mk2's and a 47 or something?

+, †, X, or other?

I can only explain the dagger, †, which denotes an ECS train - however, that doesn't really fit a class 1 headcode, nor can I see why an ECS would run that route. Then again, I can't really see why you'd terminate anything at Bedford from Derby!

I also have that section. the working is a 47/4 or 31/4 With Mk2's (standard 7 coach XC set) off Etches Park. through the years it has also been worked by 156's and 158's from 93 onward. it arrives into P3 then runs round, returning 06:01

the + denotes a train where all vehicles must be passed for 100mph or more, and is covered in the timetable notes.

its worth noting that the timetable has already been written for WH, and is awaiting a sim update before release.

I am currently in the final stages of writing a 89 timetable, which also has this working, but additionally has a New st - Luton DPU (Cl.127) and several Bedford - Pancras DPU's (Cl.128), along with a 31/4 worked St. Pancras - Bletchley Parcels which runs round at Bedford. How times change....

Regards

Joe

Underwood, the train you are referring to is a loco hauled service from Derby which terminated in P3 at Bedford. During that period it was usually worked by a Cl.47/9 off Derby RTC although I've seen other Cl.47/4s & even Cl.31/4 on it as Joe has mentioned in his post. There was an afternoon mail train that ran over the Bedford - Bletchley line & arrived in P1 at Bedford, the loco ran round the train & set back into the Bedford Carriage sdgs or the Goods Loop next to the Bedford - Bletchley line. This train then backed onto the rear of 1E60 St. Pancras - Leeds PCD when it arrived in P1. I've wrtten for Geoff's West Hampstead sim a 1991 summer timetable, but you won't see that until Geoff is ready to release an updated version of the West Hampstead sim at some point in the future. The tt was trailled at one of the meets last year.
If you want to know any other info on that period let me know as I was still living at Bedford in 1992 & was travelling to Liverpool Street where I was working at that time.

Further to the above the timing load of D210 refers to 6 coaches, un this case 6 Mk.2b/cs. However over the years I've seen Cl.156s & Cl.158s also on that train.

Ah cheers for that! I was toying the idea of a WTT for WH but don't quite have the tools for it, platform workbook at St Pancras, Bedford shunts etc. I did flick through though and wondered what the Bedford round trip was.

Danny252 - I know, looking at it in the WTT, it does look random! I note there is a St Pan - Bedford 319 service that connects with the 0601 Bedford - Derby, just means putting up with a stopper to Bedford first rather than running fast to Bedford. Imagine how well that would go down today, get a stopper FCC service to Bedford for an EMT service from Bedford to Sheffield or something

I used s summer 1991 station working book for St. Pancras which also covers Moorgate & King's Cross Thameslink. Some of the trains are quite complex & the WTT doesn't really tell you that just looking at it. The SWB also gives the unit diagrams so you can match up the unit working. I sed a Midland Lines Trip Notice for 1987 as well as my experiences when I was on the footplate at both St. Pancras & Bedford which helps as well. I'm sure at some point you'll be able to play it.
