BNS North panel bug 07/01/2015 at 23:59 #67511

Evening all.

Have just come off the evening's New Street host. Ended up doing North for 10 minutes and think I may have picked up a bug. Sorry if this has already been reported.

There is a TCF at Soho North Junction in front of 1F36 which was waiting just before Soho South Jcn when coming from Birmingham NS. Train 2W09 is waiting between Rolfe Street and Soho North Junction for a route towards NS. If I tried to set the route through to the next signal at Soho South Jcn then an error message came up saying "No overlap available". This suggests that the TCF in front of 1F36 was causing problems on the other line.

I decided to try something else, namely a route into the goods line in front of 2W09. The route requested was accepted and I then found I could set a route from the other side of the goods loop through to Soho South Junction.

Train 2W09 emerged from the Goods Loop after a phone call complaining of a wrong route.

I suspect this may be a bug because I think it should have accepted the route for 2W09 through to Soho South Jcn so I attach the screenshots referred to. Any thoughts?

Dave

(PS: I do have screenshots but they can't be viewed without being too small. If you PM me with an email address I will supply the pictures).

The save time is slightly different to the times Dave is referring to but the bug refers to routing 1G08 at signal 337.

If it helps, I think the TCF also included the down side of the crossover between 325 and 328 as well as TC1726. This disappeared when a route was set through the TCF on the main line.

There is defiantly something not right there, but I am unable to recreate the bug. One for Geoff to look into I think

It's been raised as Mantis 12267.

I tried to write a post about it on here last night, but the website crashed and I lost my post.

There were two tickets raised for Geoff. One is for the track failure affecting the route setting. This can be "worked around" by clearing the track circuit manually using the F11 incident panel, then occupying it again. It will then stay occupied until it is fixed by the technician, but you will be able to set routes on the other road. I was unable to work out how the bug was caused in the first place however. It is worth noting that you cannot resolve the problem by talking trains past the signals concerned, the trains will proceed but the bug will remain.

As for the goods line Dave, the wrong route call is being generated at the wrong signal. Passenger trains are taking the route into the loop without query, but then querying on the way out. You will still get the same penalty as you are only getting one goods line call. You would still be better to key the points manually and talk the trains by main line though.

I can recreate it.

Start a new sim and occupy the TC T1726

Set route from 337 to 310 - this works as expected. Now cancel the route from 337 to 310.

Now set route from 315 to 323 (Soho East Jn); then cancel the route.

Setting route from 337 to 310 now gives "No overlap available"

Using that I can also reproduce it, I have added this to Mantis.
