Hopefully this won't come across as rude as it's from a desire to play rather than impatience! Will Derby be released any time soon? I ask purely because I used to live in Nottingham and travelled through Derby station on a weekly basis, so would love the chance to control it! Just wondered what the dealio was?

Again, not meaning to be rude/impatient, just eager to sim!

Regards,
Dan

I will bet you my mortgage that the response you will get to this will be:

"It will be ready when it's ready".

Indeed, but she didn't tell you that it doesn't apply with Simsig.

It normally isn't prudent for a developer to give a release date because they are hard to deliver on.

Tom's post is the reason behind WHY the usual answer is "its ready when its ready.

Any update on this Sim? Looks like it would be an interesting one to learn and play.

Seeing as no one said it the first time around...

It will be ready when it's ready.

I can remember that Derby, Stafford and Reading were the first generation Simulations. I must be getting old! Can you still get them?

I assume you're referring to Ashley Greenup's 'Train Games' software? If so, the website seems to have disappeared.

I had forgotten about Ashley Greenup. I can,t even remember which Sims he did now. I was referring to the three Sims that were the predecessors to the paged Sims e.g. Royston (the Simsig trainer), Cambridge, etc! They were rather primitive by comparsion but fun in a nostalgic sort of way. If I remember correctly the trains were signaled by typing in commands and pressing "enter"

Those sound like Ashley Greenup's- did you type the headcode followed by a line designation?

Stafford was an early (paged) SimSig simulation, and was updated to use the Loader last year.

SIAM's sims under DOS are played by typing in commands.

You're right, but in SIAM you use track codes to set routes, not headcodes. In fact the program doesn't use headcodes at all. Trains are identified using their departure time, or in case of locos their unit type/shed.

I've started a new thread with some links people might find interesting to see the early days of Railway Signalling/Operation simulations.
