Surely more 'putting off' of what 'successive governments have done for decades'????? Oh the irony - was it lost on the Minister?

Unfortunately, it's necessary pragmatism. The GW electrification has descended into farce, so they're postponing MML and TP to throw resources at that.

EDIT TO ADD: Tony Miles gave an excellent summary of what's going on in Simon Mayo's Radio 2 show this evening. It can be heard here, skip to 25:20. Non-UK residents may not be able to listen.
