Hi all! As you know, I am a fan of hosting simulations on SimSig but there are other people out there who are too. I hope this hosting timetable helps avoid hosting clashes and clears up any confusion. (Not that there is any). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday: Definitely Hosting - Saltley/Stafford/Exeter From 20:00 to 23:00/00:00 (BST) Tuesday: Maybe Hosting - Carlisle/Bristol/KGX From 20:00 to 23:00/00:00 (BST) Wednesday: Day Off/Joining Day Thursday: Day Off/Joining Day Friday: Maybe Hosting - Victoria Central/South Eastern/Derby From 21:00 to 00:00/02:00 (BST) Saturday: Day Off/Joining Day Sunday: Maybe Hosting - Waterloo/Brighton or any other small donationware sim From Any Time Of The Day ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This timetable is just to let you guys know when I'm hosting. I am not using it to prioritize myself and it is not being used to stop other people from hosting. Note: Monday is the day when I am definitely hosting no matter what. The days marked as 'Maybe Hosting' are days where I will be hosting unless someone else is. The days marked as 'Day Off/Joining Day' are pretty self explanatory. I will either be joining someone else's session or I will be offline. You guys have the right to host whenever you want and I have only posted this timetable to let you guys know when I'm hosting. I would recommend making a timetable to all hosts as it is useful to the people who join your sims and it will help avoid session conflict. Please leave any suggestions for this timetable in the comments section and thanks for reading! I don't understand, why is there an issue with two people hosting at the same time? It's been happening for years. It just gives other people a choice of which sim they want to join.

I know. But I said hosting clashes, which is where someone is hosting the same simulation as someone else. In my opinion, it's more fun when two online sessions are happening at once so those in the queue of one can just go to the other.

Every so often someone makes a post like this asking people not to host when they do, or implying they'd like people not to host when they are etc. I would just let people host when they want to host. The fact someone else is already hosting would never stop me putting a game(s) up. It just gives other people a choice of which sim they want to join. Also, one simulation may be more preferred which will steal the joiners of another session. From what I have seen when I have hosted is most of the community will stick with their original choice even if something better comes along. Once the session they joined originally finishes they can always try their luck for a space on their preferred simulation. Only exception might be if there is a queue on their original choice in which case nobody loses out. Then again I might have just been lucky when hosting. I'm afraid to say while I won't go out of my way to host a simulation if several others are already hosting if I do decide to host and there is a clash then people can choose as they see fit. Your right. I think steal was the wrong word to use but I'm sure you know what I mean.

If the hosts are using different timetables, different eras, and/or different scenaios, then the hosting sessions are different. Even different hosts can lead to a different experience for the user. Users all have their own preferences, so having multiple, varying sessions caters for that. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Trainfan344 |

In simple terms , stop arguing. If you want to host something and someone happens to post at the same or similar time that your hosting , example , Carlisle 2009 timetable at 8pm on a thursday night does not give you the right to make the teddy , rattle and other toys in the pram airborne! Get over it , host when you want , if it clashes with someone doing the same , carry on. If you get one connection , you get one , on the other hand if you get a full house then good. Please stop this bickering and arguing as I'm getting ticked off at seeing this constant moaning. In closing , I have hosted in the past and had similar situations. I've just changed the timetable to offer variety. Lets put this situation to bed , get on with life and carry on hosting. As headshot119 said , he had his two pence worth. I've ranted to £5! I also don't personally see a need for a timetable. there's a host of some sort I can join most evenings. if I want to join I take a look at what's on offer that evening. it also avoids disappointment when you have to cancel due to the real world (under promise, over deliver). It's not that common because people only state their hosting when they are 100% sure. Nobody else ever has done a hosting timetable. AFAIK. This topic just makes you come across as selfish and arrogant in my opinion.

Don't lose heart, BVE. I applaud you for your enthusiasm and commitment to hosting SimSig. Posting a timetable was a good idea to let people know when your multi-play sessions would be on. Unfortunately, it has been misinterpreted, which often happens with something new. In another place, regular hosting meant that players knew what to expect and as a result attendance was higher and games more frequent. It would be good to see something like that here on the SimSig forum. Keep on hosting.
