3. Where are the following stations:

  • c. Times Square

I'll say "New York", but I suspect that answer is far too obvious, and it isn't the complete name of the nearest subway station.

Quote:
6. Where are there three successive stations on the national rail network starting with the same word?
Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Oxford Road. I'm assuming "Llan..." doesn't count!
Danny252,

Sorry, New York would be too easy. The New York station is "Times Square-42nd Street".

Heald Green and a number of other stations are located between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport so I'm afraid that isn't correct either.

Peter.

They aren't successive though; there are stations between the airport and Piccadilly.

If Deansgate was officially 'Manchester Deansgate' it would be in with a shout, but it is officially just Deansgate.

Do tram stops count? We stop at Oldham King Street, Oldham Central and Oldham Mumps
I've just checked and the remaining group of three is only on the official name, the name displayed at the station isn't the full official name!

Sorry, this question is national rail only!

3c... There was a station called Times Square on the old Merry Hill Monorail. Both of the stations which were built on to the shopping malls are still extant - so I'm going with that!

(It's vaguely rail related...!)

Three consecutive stations...

EDIT: Whoops, I thought it said same letter... Not same word

EDIT 2: You could have Exeter, if you're going on service patterns... St Thomas, St Davids, Central... They're consecutive stations, but obviously not in a single direction.
Rainbow Nines,

I remember the Merry Hill Monorail, may event still have my ticket somewhere!, but the place I 'm thinking off still has trains!

I'd missed Exeter Central/St Davids/St Thomas but they are consecutive so you are correct.

Correct, there is a tongue in cheek proposal to rename Norwood Junction as Norwood Intergalactic.

Cardiff Bay - Cardiff Queen Street - Cardiff Central

Only one service a day though!

Being local to me I hadn't realised it had made the national news! Did certainly make a change from stabbings and fights etc in the local rag though

    Primedetective,

Thanks for entering. National rail says you would have to leave Queens Park (Glasgow) at 07:23 to catch the 08:00 from Glasgow Central. I think there is a 15 minute minimum connection time at Glasgow Central and you have only given yourself 5 minutes.

Had to break up that section into individual legs to get the best time, not sure why it wouldn't display that immediately.
