Well I'm making no progress with installing Leeds at all. Can't work out what is going wrong here. The installing list seems to suggest that its unpacking and installing the files but when I go to look for them they are nowhere to be seen. It may be that the initial updating files are the source of the problem. Its also funny that I am stuck in a loop with Leeds being offered as an update every time I press the "look for updates" button.

Anybody know where the Timetable is? Sim runs fine, but no Timetable in Loader or Files.

" said:That was it, Thanks Geoff. The order of the folder options is important. I just moved the preferred folder to the top. to Ian (ozrail) the Timetable (1200 start) downloaded ok (after i fixed up the folder order) so maybe give it a few more tries. Cheers Log in to reply |

I'm still lost. Are you referring to the folder option in the loader? What is the correct order in the folder?

" said:I'm still lost. Are you referring to the folder option in the loader? What is the correct order in the folder? Yes, Now it looks like you need to have C:\Users\Public\Documents\SimSig\ at the top of the folder list. I have currently 6 entries. Will need to cull that list as it has grown over the years of using SimSig. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: ozrail |

Ok. I've found the problem. Leeds did not load correctly the first time. The problem is the loader thinks Leeds is there and won't let me load it again, but it's not showing up in Windows so I can't uninstall it.

In the folder list if you deselect the folder that Leeds went into first and then check for updates it will download again. It will install in the first folder that is checked. In the past it used to install in the default folder. Might be best to wait for a reply from Geoff. There looks to be an index file and using file restore it might be easier if that was returned to yesterdays state. Last edited: 17/12/2015 at 07:33 by Airvan00 Log in to reply |

Small bug in the new sim installation mechanism. It tries to create the directory for the sim as WhateverDirectory\Simulations\SimName, but it doesn’t check for failures creating that directory, nor does it create parents. My folder options were originally set to [CSIDL_PERSONAL]\SimSig first and [CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS]\SimSig second. I installed all my installer packages into the second location (Public), while installing any custom-built or extra downloaded timetables into the first (my own documents). That meant that the second folder had a Simulations directory, but the first didn’t (it only had Timetables and Saves). When the updater tried to install Leeds, it went ahead and tried to create C:\Users\Myself\My Documents\SimSig\Simulations\leedsew, failed because the Simulations directory didn’t exist, and then promptly went ahead and did the rest of the unpacking process, never giving any indication that it was actually not creating any files at all. Or maybe it’s a Wine thing, not reporting errors that would be properly reported under native Windows. But it seems unlikely. Log in to reply |

I'm just going round in a loop and getting no further forward. I'm asked to press return in a DOS screen and then nothing happens, except it closes. There's no progress on the updating.

Can't get a screen shot. I'm left with trying to run the update " SimSigrefresher.exe - app 4.5.7.0 " I've been able to run " SimSigrefresherA.exe - app 4.5.7.0 " It trys to move an with the response "Installing SimSigrefresher.exe.GetlNetfile.." Then the message on a fresh pop up "The application needs to close so it can be updated. You will need to run the update again to install the remaining updates" If I do that I gert a DOS screen failed to copy (into x86 Program Files) message, even though I'm trying to use default settings Log in to reply |

Right next question... What version of the loader are you running to try and run this update? Can you confirm that your folder options in the loader look like this: Some folder options obscured as they're irrelevant to a standard install. " said: A thought. In "C:\Program Files (x86)\SimSig" Do you have a "Simulations" folder ? Do you also have a "Timetables" folder? If you don't manually create them, then run check for updates and see if it then works. If you do have them then I'm at a loss and you might have to wait for Geoff to wake up to help resolve it. No, I didn't. I just use the default download for new sims, and that's where they end up - in the past.

If it installs the leedsew sim there you can always manually move it across to the "normal" location. It's not an issue I've been able to replicate on a Virtual Machine, you might help us narrow down the issue depending on the outcome.
